Junior captain Alexi Alejandro led the onslaught with 2 goals and 2 assists. as the Lowell Catholic boys soccer team pounded
out a 6-0 Catholic Central League Small School Division win over host Cathedral High yesterday.

Lowell Catholic (6-1-2, 5-0 CCL) made short work of Cathedral as the Crusaders took a 4-0 lead into halftime.
Eric Savard, Kyle Thomas, Scott Wilder and Jeff Lee each also scored goals. Assists were dished out by Anthony Wafo, Eric
Lee, Matthew Bevillard and Matt Cavanaugh.
Senior goalkeeper Andrew Larmand (3 saves) earned his second shutout. Lowell Catholic has won
its last three games

LOWELL -- The Lowell Catholic boys and girls soccer teams split a Catholic Central League doubleheader against visiting
Matignon High yesterday at UMass Lowell, the boys winning 4-2 and the girls losing for the first time, 2-0.

Sophomore Dave Haley and senior captain Matt Cavanugh (10 goals, 3 assists) scored 2 goals each to spark the LC boys (5-1-2,
4-0 CCL). Junior midfielder/captain Alexi Alejandro (6-4-10) added an assist and keeper Andrew Larmand
made 4 saves.

Mark Caliris scored both goals for the Cougars, one in each half, as LC fell from the undefeated ranks (3-1-2) with this
setback.
Crusaders' keeper Andrew Larmand finished with 8 saves, while freshman sweeper Eusebio Marote
made a spectacular header save for Lowell to prevent a goal and senior right fullback Jason Savard also played well defensively.
Vinnie Visconti had the lone Austin assist.

The Crusaders (4-1-2) bounced back from their first defeat on Saturday, rolling to this CCL victory behind 2-goal efforts
from junior midfielder and captain Alexi Alejandro and senior midfielder/captain Matt Cavanaugh (team-high 8 goals, 2 assists).
Junior middie Eric Savard had the other tally for LC, which blasted to a commanding 4-0 halftime lead, while sophomore
forward David Haley and senior stopper Olexandr Zolotar contributed 2 assists each.
Senior keeper Andrew Larmand made 3 saves for the win.

a short-lived 1-0 lead in this Catholic Central League crossover played in Framingham. Marian tied it minutes later.
Senior goalkeeper Andrew Larmand was sharp, making 9 saves, and senior Jason Savard played a
solid defensive game for LC.

League boys soccer game played as the back end of a girls-boys doubleheader at UMass Lowell's Cushing Field last night.

In the Dual County League, Westford Academy and Boston Latin played to a scoreless tie, and Acton-Boxboro
defeated Waltham, 5-1.

Junior midfielder Eric Savard launched the season with a hat trick, and Lowell Catholic broke open a close game with four
second-half goals on the way to a season-opening 5-2 Catholic Central League crossover boys soccer victory against host and
Large School member Arlington Catholic yesterday.

Elsewhere locally, Westford Academy blasted Tyngsboro, 5-1, and Concord-Carlisle blanked Acton-Boxboro, 3-0, in Dual County
League action.

A talented and more experienced Georgetown team jumped out to a 3-0 halftime lead in a quarterfinal game at
Cawley Stadium, and Lowell Catholic couldn't quite recover to make a run.
Junior Andrew Larmand had a valiant effort in net, making 7 saves.
LC ends 11-7-2 and advanced to the quarterfinals for the second consecutive season despite fielding a young
squad.
Senior co-captains Alex Clark and Jesse Graham provided leadership all season long for the Lowell Catholic

Except for Lowell Catholic's 1-0 win it was a Saturday massacre for local boys soccer teams in the MIAA Tournament.

In Division 3 North, Lowell Catholic edged Minuteman Tech at Cawley Stadium, but Bishop Fenwick rolled over
Greater Lowell Tech, 5-1, and Austin Prep was whitewashed 3-0 by Georgetown.

Alex Clark's goal 10 minutes into the first half was all the stingy Lowell Catholic defense needed. as junior
goalie Andrew Larmand had 8 saves to pick up his 8th shutout.
After winning their tourney opener on Homecoming Day, the 6th-seeded Crusaders are now 11-6-2 and will
host 14-seeded Georgetown on Tuesday. Minuteman, the tourney's 11th seed, ends its season at 6-7-2.
LC won when junior Alex Wienke fielded a pass at midfield and tapped the ball to Clark. The senior forward
the drilled a shot from 20 yards out into the net.
Lowell Catholic had 15 shots, but Crusaders coach Ken Hurtubise said the defense was the key starting with
Larmand in net (co-MVP of the Catholic Central Small School Division).
"Some people say defense wins championships and that's really waht allowed us to win this game," said Hurtubise.

Andrew Larmand made 11 saves in net as the Crusaders dipped to 9-6-1 overall and 7-1-1 CCL.
Matignon, which scored twice in the second half for the win, is now 7-0-2 in league play including an earlier 0-0 deadlock
with Lowell Catholic.

The win improved LC to 8-4-1 overall, including 6-0-1 atop the CCL Small, and the locals need just 1 more of a possible

Andrew Larmand was outstanding in goal, stopping
17 shots, including a penalty kick, to lead the Crusaders to the Catholic Central League crossover win.
Lowell Catholic (3-3), winners of 3 straight, scored in the first minute when
Alex Clark fired in a goal off an assist from Fillipe Lavarenda.
In the second half, after the visitors tied it, Olexandr Zolotar headed in
a direct kick off the foot of Matt Cavanaugh and then Matthew Brovillard set up Elexi Alejandro for an insurance goal. Derrick
Coleman and Jesse Graham were defensive stalwarts.

The Tigers pounced on Lowell Catholic with 3 first-half goals to get their first win at the Wang School's LeBlanc Field
in Lowell.
Tyngsboro (1-1) took the lead 20 minutes into the first half on a score by Sam McGrath, assist to Derek Diaz, and got the
actual game-winner 10 minutes later on an unassisted goal by Ettore deMari. Diaz netted the Tigers' final goal from deMari
with 2 minutes left in the first half.
Lowell Catholic (0-2) broke up the shutout 12 minutes into the second half as right midfielder Alex Wienke scored on a
feed from left midfielder Derek Coleman. Brian Sanz made 4 saves for Tyngsboro and Andrew Larmand
had 12 saves for LC.
