Leading the charge was senior midfielder Hector Espildora, who notched his 13th and 14th goals (both unassisted) at 16
minutes of the first half and 30 minutes of the second half.
Junior forward Tommy Joyce's unassisted tally 10 minutes into the game got LC (13-5-1) off and running, before Espildora
made it 2-0.
Junior midfielder Alex Clark scored midway through the second half, assisted by Alex Dubois, and Espildora capped the attack.
Andrew Larmand finished with 9 saves and the entire LC defense played well.
Lowell Catholic hosts No. 6 seed Greater Lowell Tech (11-4-4) in a quarterfinal round game Tuesday at Leblanc Field (2:30
p.m.).

Seeds at stake for local teams
Jae Hyun scored a pair of goals and Matt Cavanaugh connected on a penalty kick, lifting the Lowell
Catholic boys soccer team to a 3-1 non-league victory over host North Shore Tech of Beverly yesterday in the regular season
finale.

All the scoring came in the first half as the Crusaders (12-5-1) probably nailed down a top 3 seed and opening round bye
in the Division 3 North Tournament (pairings today).
Hector Espildora and midfielder Alex Clark had the LC assists, and both played strong all-around games, while keeper Andrew
Larmand finished with 7 saves.

Elsewhere locally, five players netted a goal each in a 5-1 romp by Division 3 North Catholic Central League Small School
champion Lowell Catholic over Pope John of Everett.

Marksmen for LC in this makeup game were team-high scorers Hector Espildora (12-8-20 points) and Jae Hyun (12-5-17), with
a goal and assist each, along with Alex Clark (rebound of own penalty kick), Matt Cavanaugh and Eric Savard.
Defensive standouts included Derrick Coleman and Jesse Graham, who added an assist each, while keeper Andrew Larmand made
6 saves.
The Crusaders, who finished 9-0-1 league and are 11-4-1 overall with 2 games left, led 3-0 at the half.

Catholic Central League Small School Division boys soccer game in Lowell yesterday.

Jae Hyun scored his 11th goal during the 18th minute of the first half, lifting the Lowell Catholic High boys soccer team
to a 1-0 upset of host Austin Prep in their Catholic Central League crossover game yesterday in Reading.

Lowell Catholic senior Jae Hyun recorded a hat trick in the first half to give the Crusaders (7-2-1, 6-0-1 CCL) a 3-0 lead
in their Catholic Central League match up. Hyun added an assist in the second half.
Also getting in on the scoring were Hector Espildora (1 goal, 2 assists) and Kosta Hatzipetres, who scored off an Alex
Clark corner kick.
Lowell Catholic got a solid effort from sophomore goalkeeper Andrew Larmand (8 saves).
Also playing well for the Crusaders were stopper Jesse Graham and midfielder Eric Savard, who celebrated his birthday with
his best performance of the season.

Trinity Catholic scored with about 10 minutes remaining to lock up this Catholic Central League tie with Lowell Catholic
(4-1-1).
The Crusaders lone goal came from senior Hector Esplidora. Lowell Catholic goalkeeper Andrew Larmand got the assist on
the play.
The Crusaders made a late push to break a scoreless tie in the 59th minute. A punt by goalie Andy Larmand created a breakaway
by Hector Esplidora who split the defenders and launched the ball into the net. Unfortunately, Trinity was awarded a penalty
kick with 17 minutes left which evened up the score. The Crusaders tough defense held Trinity scoreless for the remainder
of the game.

game last night.

defeated North Cambridge Catholic, 5-0.
